On a wonderful Sunday morning, all SPCC gathered for first interclub match of the season. Match began early to accomodate longer lunch time with the famlies. Blues won the toss and decided to bat first as dew was started to diappear from the ground. Saurabh - Vihang open the batting. Both batsmen watched first few balls and then started scoring at a good rate. Anand and Ankit bowled well but couldn't get the break through. Pramod made few changes in bowling in search of a wicket but were unsuccesful and opening pair added 88 runs in 12 overs before excellent fielding from Amit accounted for a runout. Vice Captain(Blues) walked in but was outdid by Chetan to be caught at square leg boundary by Ankit. Blues were comfortably placed @ 111 for 2 at time of break after 16 overs with Saurabh and Rohan bulding up another partership. Long consistent spell from Harsha got Saurabh out in 22nd over. Saurabh batted exceptionally well with patience and scored a well deserved 87 of 62 balls with 5 sixes and 8 fours. Vishnu was unlucky to be adjudged LBW very next ball as there was an inside edge. All of sudden score went from 147 for 2 to 147 for 4. Middle order has flourised for blues as Baseer bhai and Rohan added another 50 partnerhsip for Blues bringing them to a strong position. Rohan was starting to display range of shots but got stupmed trying to dispatch Pramod out of ground. Rohan scored 43 of 46 balls. In came Rupesh bhai and clobbered Reds bowling by scoring 44 of merely 25 balls. Besides couple of sixes, fours of Anand bhai bowling were treat to watch (AB D style). Baseer bhai ran wonderfully with Rohan and Rupesh to add 50 runs partnership with both of them bringing Blues total to 259 for 5 in 35 overs. Ravi bowled an excellent last over consuming only 2 runs. Harsha was the most successful bowler for Reds, conceding only 29 runs in his 7 overs with 2 wickets. Lots of family and friends have gathered by lunch time. Thanks to Mayank and Kunal for bringing lunch from Indian Restaurant. All had wonderful lunch and fighting spirits were back with both teams as Reds prepared to chase. Reds had a wonderful start with Shiv and Sanket(38 in 4 overs) as Rohan found hard to control the swing up first leaking 17 runs in second over. Shiv was out trying to clear the inner circle but Senthil took a good catch of vishals bowling in 5th over. Sanket was looking dangerous but was snapped wonderfully by Rohan at short point again of Vishal. Anand stay was short at the crease as Senthil had Anand caught by Vihang. Both Vishal and Senthil bowled very well with the new ball. After the field restriction, Subashish and Rupesh slowed down the scoring rate. Shrishant looked good but he lost his wicket to Rupesh trying to accelarate the run rate. Reds wickets fell consistently without threatening to chase down the total. But with Pramod still holding up one end, there was always a chance. Subashish took a brilliant caught and bowled after getting hit for a six by Pramod. Towards the end, there were some lusty blows by Amit and well supported by Chetan and Hiren. Amit hit 4 sixes trying to chase down big total. Amit and Chetan's die hard attitude kept the game alive till the end, they scored 37 and 22 respectively. Few catches were dropped by both teams but better partnerships by blues sealed the deal. Vishal and Subashish were pick of the bowlers for 3 wickets each. Rupesh was adjudged the MOM for his 44 n.o and 2 wickets. Exceptional commentary by Shrishant kept the audience entertained through out the game. Overall a good..hard fought game.
