Southpark playing against High Point has always been an interesting game and so was this. HPCC won the toss and had no doubts in batting first on a hot and humid morning. They were in for a shock though with Ankit making the ball talk like no one's business. He made the ball go both ways and started off strongly. Subashis on the other hand struggled to find the right length. Then came the first break through with Ankit getting Wasif caught behind. The very next ball was a dream ball for any swing bowler. Manzoor covered the stumps and left the ball, the ball swung late and nipped back in after pitching to hit the top of off stump. Rupesh then came on and bowled at pace from the other end and got a lot of purchase. He got the next man caught behind of a sharp rising delivery. Harsha and Rupesh strangled the batters for runs with Harsha picking Jehangir and Rupesh picked two more bowling spin. Pavan bowled a tight line and Neeraj came in at the back end to hold the big hitters and picked up a couple wickets. HPCC was able to stitch a partnership together though and ended up scoring 148 in 35 overs. SPCC started tentatively losing Rohan in the very first over. Mayank joined Vishnu and both looked positive and scored freely before Vishnu was out to a controversial decision. The game got heated up and since then and both the teams were not ready to take a step back. Rupesh and Mayank kept scoring briskly but Mayank was soon caught in the deep playing one shot too many. Ankit, who was fresh of a brilliant rearguard against CCCC was the next man in. Rupesh on the other hand got runout against the run of play off a misfield. Shirshant was the next man in and having not scored heavily this season had the odds stacked against him. Ankit and Shirshant started out grinding with Shirshant doing most of the scoring where as Ankit showin exceptional patience and grit to keep the partnership going. It was a slow and cautious approach from the two from there on which was the need of the situation and the two put together an excellent 50 partnership under pressure. Shirshant played some really good shots in the partnership but Ankit lost patience and got caught. Neeraj walked in but was unable to make the usual impact and was bowled. Harsha (Mr. Responsibility) walked in next and started rotating the strike. with 13 needed of 20, Harsha stamped his authority by pulling Manzoor for a six and then for a four. Shirshant hit a boundary to seal an excellent win for SPCC and finished notout after a draining knock. He was adjudged Man of the Match for a brilliant knock under pressure.
