SPCC REDS played their 2nd T20 CCL 2013 match against CBCC on 2nd June 2013, at Kilborne Park, the home ground for SPCC REDS. It was great weather when the match had started but a thunderstorm was predicted in the evening and also this was the 2nd match on the same day; all players was tired after playing 1st game. But, in the competitive CCL T20 tournament you cannot afford to lose a single match. SPCC were looking for one more win on that day after winning their 1st T20 match against BCCC. Harsha, captain of REDS lost the toss and CBCC elected to bat first. For SPCC REDS players, it was tough as they had just completed fielding in the 1st game. Ankit started bowling and with his usual outswing, both batsmen were struggling. So batsmen decided to go after the next opening bowler, Sankett. Ankit got his 1st wicket in his 2nd over as he got the opener Ketal out plumb lbw. Anu joined Umesh at the crease and played some good shots all over the wicket. Miten replaced Sankett in the bowling immediately after giving 38 runs in 2 overs. Umesh tried to play across in the mid-on region in Ankit’s bowling but ended up giving an easy catch to Hiren at mid-on. Ankit bowled another good spell on that day by conceding only 15 runs in his 3 overs with 2 wickets. Chetan was replaced with Ankit and started his spin attack to batsmen. By end of 7 overs CBCC’s run rate was more than 10. Miten’s fast bowling claimed Anu's wicket at mid-on with a good catch again by Hiren. Miten then bowled a low full-toss ball and got the new batsman out who was trying to hit but ended up giving a catch to Ankit. It was a nice and fast catch. It looked like Hiren’s day in the field as he took another awesome high catch at long-on in Chetan's bowling. A very good spell by Miten and Chetan restricted CBCC and did not allow them to accelerate. Basheer bowled a very tight spell in the death overs giving only 13 runs in his 4 overs with 1 wicket. In the end CBCC scored 127 after losing 9 wickets with 3 run outs. Hiren took 4 catches and was responsible for a direct hit from mid-on with a good show in the field by all other players. Overall it was a very good show from SPCC REDS, who after a firing start by CBCC, restricted them to just 127 in 20 overs. For SPCC REDs, Anand and Sankett opened the batting and soon Anand was dismissed and wrongly judged LBW by the umpire when he had an inside edge. Hiren joined Sankett at the crease and both hit some crucial boundaries and were dismissed early in the match. Basheer and Miten were at the crease, Miten who is known for his hard hitting from his Kookaburra bats scored some quick runs with some lusty boundaries and sixes. Miten was caught at log-off while trying to hit his 3rd six and scored 30 important runs in 24 balls. Harsha joined Basheer to chase down the remaining 15 runs to give REDS their second T20 match victory. Both Basheer and Harsha remained not out till the end of the innings. SPCC REDS chased 129 with 14 balls remaining. Basheer played very well scoring 46 with 6 boundaries in 36 balls, staying calm on the crease and hitting some nice ground shots towards the on side. Awesome batting and bowling performance by Basheer earned him the MoM award. Overall it was an awesome show by all REDS players.
