SPCC Reds had traveled to High Point to play HPCC at Hobson Ground on 21st April 2013. HPCC won the toss and elected to bat. Ankit and Anand opened the bowling for Reds. The opening bowlers started well but could not provide the necessary breakthrough. Harsha came into the attack and seemed to bowl with some control. Amit was introduced a little later. He tried to bowl with good pace but had difficulty controlling the ball. Chetan provided the first breakthrough by dismissing Wasif who was caught by Hiren at the boundary. It was a good catch. However, the openers had added 103 for the 1st wicket. Reds had to fight hard for their wickets. Pramod, Kunal and Shiv were the other bowlers used. Kunal and Harsha had taken a wicket apiece apart from Chetan and there was a run-out by Shirshant and Chetan. Pramod was the most economical bowler conceding 38 runs in his 7 overs. It was a hard day for Reds in the field. There were about 6 or 7 catches that were dropped and close to 40 wides bowled by Reds. HPCC had made a challenging 299/4 in their 35 overs. Manzoor had top-scored with 133. Shiv and Sankett began the proceedings in the batting department. The start was slow with only 54 runs being scored from 10 overs. Sankett was the first batsman dismissed for 22. He was followed by Pramod who was dismissed for a golden duck. Hiren came to the crease and looked in good touch. He had scored a brisk 26 before being stumped off the bowling of Manzoor. Shiv was the next batsman to be dismissed. Shiv had top-scored with 43. With a big target to chase SPCC Reds lost quick wickets in the middle overs and could not get a partnership going after the dismissal of Shiv. Reds were reduced to 138/9 in the 28th over. The last 2 batsmen, Chetan and Kunal, ensured that SPCC Reds played the entire 35 overs and finished the innings at 175/9. It was forgettable day for SPCC Reds who were comprehensively beaten in all the departments of the game.
